Christmas, 24-25 December
These days are especially happy children. Expecting to receive gifts from Father Christmas (as in the UK is called Santa Claus), the children write a detailed list with the description of the desired and throw it into the fireplace. It is believed that the smoke from the pipe will carry the message exactly destination. On Christmas Eve, the kids listen to Christmas stories and prayers, and before going to bed, leave the pie with meat, milk and carrots for the reindeer Santa. The custom of hanging socks for gifts also came from England. Santa Claus once dropped some gold coins when coming down the chimney. Coins would fall into the fire and disappeared, if not put in a sock that was dried. Since then, the children hang socks on the fireplace in the hopes of finding them full of gifts.
